Burning Bright

Good news for those of you who love the look of Ikea’s furniture but want something slightly different than everyone else out there. The online home accessories boutique Nordic House has launched a new contemporary Danish Designer Collection – taking the concept of Scandinavian design to even greater heights.

The themes for this new collection at Nordic House are made of natural textures of slate, stone, wood and glowing metals. Elegant contemporary-look oil lamps are made of sculpted slate or state-of-the-art brushed and burnished steel, copper, aluminium and antiqued bronze and come in a range of styles and sizes.

The oil lamps have a unique air system to ensure the proper burning of the wick, while a little purpose-made cap can be used to extinguish the flame safely and protect the wick from the elements which is perfect if you wish to leave these stunning lamps outside.

The obelisk hurricane lamps are ultra 21st century with a stone base and a frosted and clear glass lid to house the pillar candles in. The teak candle lantern looks classically stylish with a little stainless steel canopy atop while the tall trio of aluminium candle holders look timeless.

Most unusual of all is the architectural bird tray feeder which is so unconventional and modern that it will appeal to anyone with a sense of fun and will grace the garden, patio or balcony of any contemporary home.

Nordic House is definitely a company to watch out for as it is leading design trends for the 2010 decade and is adding to the limited-edition collections all the time.
