The E.N.D is High
I first came across the Black Eyed Peas years and years ago when they released Elephunk, the album that featured ‘Hey Mama’, ‘Where is the Love’ and ‘Shut Up’. Back then electro/hip-hop wasn’t half as popular as it is these days and this album definitely set a new level in hip-hop music back in 2003.
Now, after a few years of solo work (think of Fergie – The Dutchess and Will.I.Am – Songs About Girls) the Black Eyed Peas have got together once again to produce their fifth album. The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) is a mix of 80’s old skool electro that has been brought up to date through the use of sounds similar to that of Daft Punk’s retro futurism that we seem to hear everywhere nowadays…Lady Gaga being a prime example!
I absolutely love this album and have been listening to it non-stop for the last few days. It’s upbeat tunes – in particular, ‘Boom Boom Pow’, ‘Alive’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ – are perfect for putting you in a good mood, from listening to it on the bus on the way into work when feeling like you won’t make it through the day to dancing round the house when getting ready for a night out.
